2018 Boo n’ Brew a Spooky Success!

The 2018 Boo and Brew on Saturday, October 27th was a huge success. Over 250 kiddos took to the streets of the Bluebird District to trick or treat in a safe, fun, family-friendly environment.

The street came alive with an incredible, eclectic collection of businesses opening their doors and their candy bowls to the costumed kiddos (and adult friends too!).

Over 30 businesses participated with everything from salons and tattoo parlors, to Tattered Cover Book Store, Twist and Shout, to many of our favorite dining establishments and watering holes, to the neighborhood anchor itself – the Bluebird Theater – there was no shortage of candy and treats for the kids that came out to celebrate the 12th annual Colfax tradition.

Live music, pumpkin decorating, a spooky dollhouse at Hooked on Colfax, a photo booth at the Bad Kitty Salon, face painting, a fun giveaway from the Denver Police Department, obstacle courses and of course SO MANY AMAZING COSTUMES rounded out the afternoon.

The fun continued into the night for adults, who took part in a Spooktacular bar/restaurant crawl. Participating businesses offered the best drink specials in town, live music, costume contests and more.

Thank you to all of the incredible businesses that participated and to everyone that made Boo and Brew a part of your weekend plans. We hope to see you next year!

A special thank you to Tiger Kim’s, Steve’s Snappin’ Dogs, Denver Police Department, Groundswell Cannabis Boutique, and AEG/Bluebird Theater for their extra support of the event!

Thanks for getting Tasty with us! Tasty Colfax Recap

The 10th annual Tasty Colfax showed that the ever increasing restaurant options in Bluebird are a hit, with the event selling out! The commemorative spork was both functional and popular as event goers visited over 22 different businesses.

In addition to sampling some of Bluebird’s finest restaurants and bars, attendees also enjoyed live music and art along the way.

As a participant put it, “I live just around the corner. I don’t have money to dine out a lot, but with Tasty I got to try lots of restaurants and now know where I want to come out for dinner!”

Thanks to Collaborative Events for pulling off a great 10th Annual Tasty and to everyone who came out. Huge thanks to the restaurants, businesses, and volunteers that supported the event! You all truly make the Bluebird special.

Check out some photos from the event below. Professional photos to come and will be posted on our website and Facebook page!

New Barbecue Joint Will Take Over Solera Space

Chef Goose Sorensen is ending his sixteen-year run with Solera at the end of March, but he doesn’t regret the move. “I couldn’t be more thrilled,” he told us earlier this week when we talked to him about the closure. “I didn’t want to be fifty years old and still slinging calamari on East Colfax.” He’s got plans to do some work on his family’s property in Wyoming and is looking forward to spending more time in the mountains.

But he’s not cutting all ties to the building at 5410 East Colfax Avenue, where Solera currently resides. Sorensen owns the property and is leasing the space to Christopher Nicki, who will open Hank’s Texas Barbecue later this summer.
