New Restaurant Alert! Welcome Q House

Q House will open its doors to the public this afternoon serving Chinese inspired dishes in a modern, polished casual space off of East Colfax in the Bluebird district. Chef Chris Lin — formerly of Old Major and the famed NYC giant Momofuku — partnered with Jen Mattioni and Jon Pinto — previously of Leña and Candela Latin Kitchen — to take a stab at opening their first restaurant concept together. New Barbecue Joint Will Take Over Solera Space

Chef Goose Sorensen is ending his sixteen-year run with Solera at the end of March, but he doesn’t regret the move. “I couldn’t be more thrilled,” he told us earlier this week when we talked to him about the closure. “I didn’t want to be fifty years old and still slinging calamari on East Colfax.” He’s got plans to do some work on his family’s property in Wyoming and is looking forward to spending more time in the mountains.

But he’s not cutting all ties to the building at 5410 East Colfax Avenue, where Solera currently resides. Sorensen owns the property and is leasing the space to Christopher Nicki, who will open Hank’s Texas Barbecue later this summer.

Colfax Museum Now Open

If you ever wished there was a museum dedicated to Colfax, wish no longer. Jonny Barber, long-time Colfax lover and historian, opened the Colfax Museum in November 2017. Right now the museum is housed inside Ed Moore’s Florist at 6101 East Colfax Ave. Barber hopes to eventually move to a bigger location with an outdoor space to showcase some the street’s famous neon signs.

Click here for more coverage from 9News on the museum.
